DeVante Parker, receiver of the Miami Dolphins, could be dealt with before the NFL deadline of October 30, according to several reports.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reported on Saturday that dolphins are looking for a third round choice for Parker. Although the Dolphins do not actively buy Parker, 25, they have been discussing with several teams about an agreement on the former first-round pick, by Pelissero.
Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald added that dolphins are willing to separate from Parker at the right price. The organization is also comfortable with the fourth-year player.
The Eagles currently need a broad receiver wide deep threat for the offense. A third-round pick may seem like a high price, but the Eagles might consider Parker a long-term investment.
Should the Eagles be interested in Parker? Let's shell out Parker's call to find out if it's worth investing in a third-round pick for Philadelphia.
The Eagles may be interested
UPDATE: Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports the Eagles have shown interest in Parker.
A third round choice is considered a relatively valuable choice throughout the league. Although it has the appeal of a Day 2 selection, the results of this round are generally scattered. The Eagles were killed at random with third round picks dating back to the Andy Reid era.
Here's a look at the Eagles' third-round picks from 2013 through 17 (Philadelphia had no third-round pick this year):
2017: CB Rasul Douglas
2016: G Isaac Seumalo
2015: LB Jordan Hicks
2014: WR Josh Huff
2013: Bennie Logan
Of these five players, Logan and Hicks are the only ones to have developed important roles with the Eagles. Hicks was injured quite often after falling in the draft for health reasons. Logan has become a companion since leaving Philadelphia in 2016.
If Parker makes a difference to the long-term offense, he would deserve the value of a Seumalo or Douglas.
