Given the growing number of cases of Zika virus in Rajasthan, an alert has been launched in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in state airports.

Dr Chaturvedi asked the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to take preventive measures at Lucknow airport and at other airports in the state. Health authorities in Lucknow also issued an opinion regarding the Zika virus for the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) and the Chief Medical Officer of Health. According to health officials, the disease has not yet been reported in the city. "Many people infected with the Zika virus remain asymptomatic. About 80% of patients experience mild symptoms of body pain, conjunctivitis, fever, rash, and joint pain. Any patient with fever, particularly from areas of Rajasthan infected, should be closely monitored, "said Dr. Chaturvedi. He added that the IAA should ensure that passengers complaining of fever, maculopapular rash or any other associated symptom are properly examined.

"Any passenger returning from Rajasthan must be examined carefully before being allowed to enter the city," he said. Sanjay Narain, head of Lucknow Airport, said that AAI would adhere to the guidelines of the district health and administration department. Lucknow city commissioner Indramani Tripathi said: "The guidelines for the Zika virus will be fully implemented. We will organize anti-mosquito campaigns in the city with the help of a regional malaria officer. "
