Former White House communications chief Anthony Scaramucci on Sunday accused White House chief of staff John F. Kelly of "bending the crisis," seizing which Kelly and his national security advisor, John Bolton, recently quarreled with for immigration.
Scaramucci, no stranger to profanity, worked as a communications director for 11 days before Kelly was fired by him last year. He is promoting a book about his stay at the White House and his relationship with President Trump.
In an interview with NBC's Chuck Todd on "Meet the Press", Scaramucci said that, while applauding General Marine Corps' retirement service, "it has damaged the morale of the troops, the President and the crisis. "
"You know the good news is that it justifies me because he's showing his personality now, as it really is," Scaramucci said of Kelly, referring to his relationship with Bolton.
Scaramucci also expressed dissatisfaction with Kelly's dismissal of his job at the White House.
"He does not need to fire me like he fired me. . . . There was a better way to get fired, but he was trying to make it a show, and so he had the show he wanted, "Scaramucci said.
In his book "Fear", veteran journalist and Washington Post deputy editor Bob Woodward said Kelly had often spoken to Trump about his colleagues, calling the president "unbalanced" and "stupid." Kelly denied denigrating the president.
Scaramucci said Sunday that Trump "needs a chief of staff, but he needs a chief of staff who really likes him and who has her personality."
Todd asked him if he thought Kelly liked Trump, then Scaramucci said, "What about you?
"It does not look like him," he continued, adding that Woodward "seems to me to be a pretty loyal journalist."
