Ryanair is facing a torrent of criticism after the broadcast of a viral video showing flight attendants doing nothing to prevent a passenger from inflicting a racist tirade on a passenger. Rather than removing the passenger who insults, the airline decides to move the woman from her seat.

Another passenger of the flight, David Lawrence, filmed everything on video, explaining that the incident had occurred before leaving a Barcelona-London flight on Thursday. The video shows an elderly white man who treats this 77-year-old black woman as a "nasty black bastard". When the woman spoke to the man in English with a Jamaican accent, he shouted at him, "Do not talk to me. in a foreign language, stupid ugly cow! "The man even threatened violence at some point:" If you do not go to another place, I'll put you in another place.

The man apparently became angry when the woman did not get up quickly enough from the aisle seat to sit near the window. The video shows the girl of this woman who, standing angrily, defends her mother and explains that she is disabled. That's why she was moving slowly. "I do not care if she is disabled or not – if I tell her to go out, she goes out," said the man at one point.

Although there is a flight attendant present during the altercation, he does very little to stop the verbal abuse of this man, although the situation has become so aggravated that another passenger had to intervene to try to calm him down. Some passengers may be heard and request that the man be expelled from the flight, but the cabin crew apparently did not accept this option.

The woman's daughter told HuffPost that she took her mother on a trip to try to "get up" before the first anniversary of her husband's death, after the marriage of their couple for more than 50 years. "The underlying reason for the abusive behavior of the man lies in the fact that my mother is a black woman and that he did not want her to sit next to him – he says it in the video, "she said. The 53-year-old woman said she was convinced that everything would have gone well if the screamer was black. "I know that if I behaved like him or any other black person, the police would have been called and we would have been fired," she said.

Lawrence, who filmed the video, said that he was unhappy not only with the inaction of the cabin crew, but of that of other passengers. "I became very anxious because I filmed this film and I look at other passengers who are wondering who will intervene and say something because two men are attacked by this man," he told ITV News.

Ryanair said in a brief tweet that there had been reported the incident to the police.
