French teenager accused of pointing a fake pistol at a teacher

A French teenager was accused of aggravated violence after screening a video showing him pointing a fake gun at his teacher in the Parisian suburb of Créteil, prosecutors said Sunday.

The incident was filmed and uploaded to social media on Thursday by one of his classmates.

The 15-year-old journalist said it was "a joke," adding that he was unaware of his filming, reported a local media.

The professor complained to the police on Friday.

The student did police on the same day, accompanied by his father.

In the video, he points the wrong weapon at his teacher, sitting on a desk. He shouts to him to mark it as being present on the register of the school.

The teacher continues to work on her laptop while talking to the class.

The Paris newspaper reports that the student was angry because he had been marked by his absence after appearing late at Edouard-Branly High School.

"Take back the Republic"

The incident was firmly condemned by the Minister of the Interior, Christophe Castaner.

"The school is the cradle of the Republic and it is there that we learn to respect the Republic," he said during a visit to a police station in the country. is from Paris, in which he had promised to "take the Republic meter by meter".

French President Emmanuel Macron called the incident "unacceptable" in a tweet.

A meeting will be held next week to discuss ways to end violence in suburban schools.

Didier Sablic, a teacher at the school for 25 years, told Le Monde that he was "not used to this type of incident", adding that students learned "the communication skills and respect ".
