TOKYO – (BUSINESS WIRE) – NTT DOCOMO, INC. And NTT DOCOMO USA, Inc. announced today the immediate implementation
launch of a temperature and humidity monitoring service based on the IoT
industrial refrigerators and freezers in the United States. Customers
can use smartphones or computers to monitor the temperature and humidity of
their equipment, receive alerts in case of anomaly, receive
monthly reports on temperature and humidity trends and changes to parameters
on the basis of such reports. The subscription service is available starting from 99 $
per month in the United States.
DOCOMO has developed the service in collaboration with myDevices, an IoT
Los Angeles, California-based solutions company that provides IoT
LoRa-based technology®, a wireless data communication
technology for very low power and very long range transmissions. Temperature
and the moisture data collected in grocery stores and restaurants are
available in the cloud in real time for reliable temperature management,
including efficient automation of processes such as visual confirmations
by employees and a reduction of food waste.
The system uses LoRaWANTM specification, low power,
WAN protocol introduced by the LoRa AllianceTM,
which allows the sensors to run for more than five years without
replacement.
Refrigeration temperature management is an important issue for the grocery store
shops and restaurants, as equipment breakdowns can lead directly to
to the deterioration of food. Despite the strong demand for industrial refrigerators
with remote monitoring functionality, such equipment is expensive and
replacement cycles can be long, so many refrigerators do not
