Rick Grimes remains only two episodes in The Walking Dead, and the episode of this week begins to prepare us for the inevitable.
The dead who walk is preparing to break our hearts with the imminent release of Rick Grimes which will have a huge impact on future episodes of the series. And while Rick is going, whether we like it or not, there are a lot of things going on among communities that are gearing up for something huge.
Last week's episode ended with ex-Savior Justin removed and this week's episode shows his death and the fact that he turns into a walker. The next day, Rick wakes up and immediately this feeling of imminent disaster strikes you because you know that the end is near.
On his way to Carl's grave, he finds a tomato growing on it. As a sign of novelty, Rick goes home to spend time with Michonne. She is busy working on the future, but he interrupts to say that he can think of other ways to pursue the human race (wink, wink).
I'm not sure that the Apocalypse needs another pregnancy, but at least it would leave a piece of Rick since we all know Judith … very well, maybe again too early.
Meanwhile, Maggie is forced to face the wrath of a group of saviors looking to find Justin. They presume that it is Maggie who is at the origin of all the disappearances, and as the moment wanted it, the walker Justin comes out of the wood in the distance.
The situation was also chaotic in Alexandria where Rick was trying to keep peace between all the inhabitants. But before that, he had a great day with Judith and Michonne, which reminds us that these moments will soon end.
As soon as Rick learned that Justin was now a walker, riots broke out among the Saviors who were upset by the fact that someone murdered one of their own. Charges and suspicions were thrown, Formerly Anne being the first suspect.
Even Rick momentarily suspects Jadis and questions Father Gabriel about where she is the night before. Rick does not know it, they fell in love with each other, making it innocent once.
Alden talks to Rick and tries to convince him to give firearms to some of the Saviors, so he does not feel at all in the defense. Rick agrees to think more about it, but he wants to solve Justin's murder first. He questions Darryl who, in a low voice, says that if it were him, he would have made it in the open air so that everyone could see him. Damn, Darryl.
The dead who walk Daryl and Rick tell us that we want the Saviors to be dead, but Rick says that the way of the world must change now, and that the world already belongs to the dead.
After all, he gave Rick his chance and looked where they ended up, maybe the same thing could happen again – or at least Rick hoped. Father Gabriel tries to tell Jadis where she is when they are not together. Once again, she feels stuck as if everyone else considers her to be the main suspect, even her new boyfriend.
And the mystery behind the disappeared continued and finally, a research team fell on Bea and fell to the ground. And now, Maggie suspected that the same person who had tried to hurt Bea could also have Arat.
While Maggie and Daryl go out looking for Arat, Maggie confides to Daryl that she would like to be able to get on the same wavelength as Rick and that she knows that her vision of the future would be ideal for Hershel. But before she can say anything, they find another dead savior and Daryl discovers who has Arat.
Formerly released her secret radio and tries to make a call based on the helicopter that she saw the night before. A man answers at the other end asking if she has an A or a B. Say what? It looks like she knows how to react, which leaves one wondering, to whom does she address herself?
She responds by saying that she has paid her share and what she would have to do otherwise. The man reacts by saying that she must give him an A. Unfortunately for Gabriel, he presents himself bluntly while the conversation is taking place and learns the truth about yesteryear.
She was exchanging people for supplies for her people, and that's exactly what she was going to do with Rick and Father Gabriel. Ouch, poor Gabriel. She tries to convince Gabriel to run away with him and when he refuses, he feels his anger as she knocks him out.
Carol found herself in a less than ideal situation when Jed held him hostage with a knife to his throat after Justin's debacle. He just wants a weapon and his people go home, away from Rick and his futuristic ideas of peace. Jed underestimates Carol (God knows why) and very soon, it is she who takes a knife in the leg to escape.
The end of the episode shows Maggie and Daryl figuring out who is behind all the disappearances (no, not yet the Whisperers, unfortunately) – Cyndie. She seeks revenge for the saviors because they have killed her family in a cold-blooded murder without hesitation and have forced her to watch.
Now the roles have been reversed and she plans to kill Arat as she killed her 11 year old brother laughing. After learning what Arat had done, Maggie and Daryl walked away, letting Cyndie do what she had to do. Cyndie's words leave a lasting impression on Maggie, who does not really know what to do because she may have paved the way for all of this.
But it looks like Cyndie had an impact on Maggie too, and in the last moments of the episode, Maggie turns to Daryl and says that they've tried things like Rick, but now it's time to take things in hand – and go see Negan.
Oh, it's like Donkey Kong!
