A recently disclosed toy for Avengers 4 came with a description that suggested that the Avengers might face an even greater threat than Thanos. It's hard to imagine that in the MCU anyone is more dangerous than Mad Titan after destroying half of the universe, but if this rumor is true, the most powerful heroes of the Earth may well have faced the tip of the iceberg. To discuss who or what "bigger threat" might be, there is no need to look far. Marvel Comics showcased several cosmic villains who threatened Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men on a massive scale. All that Marvel Studios has to do, is to look through one of these major arcs and adapt the villain to the big screen. Whole stories have been devoted to the tyranny of new villains who threaten the universe as a whole – it would not be too difficult for Marvel to use one of them in a movie.
On top of that, the future deal with FOX and Disney could open the door to villains that Marvel could choose in the future. It's possible that an evil X-Men or Fantastic Four is on the horizon (whether for A4 probably wishful thinking), but we do not think that characters like Doctor Doom or Onslaught will soon make an MCU appearance. Whatever the case may be, it seems that the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy still have to face their biggest threat. With a "bigger threat" approaching the MCU, we are talking about 20 overpowering villains who could adapt to the bill.
20. Annihilus
When the rumors have appeared, a new villain could appear in Avengers 4, some quickly speculated that it was a clue that Annihilus might be the new villain. After the additional rumor that Avengers 4 would be entitled Avengers: AnnihilationIt took a short time before the fans put two and two together.
Annihilus is a villain who mainly fights the Fantastic Four, but Marvel and FOX have made chords in the past to acquire the use of certain characters. In addition, Annihilus was also responsible for a huge script in comics titled "Annihilation". Having this impact on a large scale in comics could easily translate into MCU.
19. Celestials
The Celestials have already been confirmed in the MCU, including Ego the Living Planet. Although the Celestials seem to have been gone for a long time, it's likely that some people think there's still some left over. With Thanos disrupting the balance of the universe as a whole, it is possible that this causes a malicious Celestial to capitalize or attempt to correct the damage.
Whatever the case may be, the arrival of a Celestial would pose a threat that would incite the Avengers to take action. Essentially the gods of the MCU, they would easily have more power than the Mad Titan. It could also serve as an entry point into some of the craziest stories of the upcoming MCU.
18. Beyond
"The Secret Wars" was one of the biggest stories in the history of comics and all this is due to one single entity: the Beyonder. Even though there was no mention of Beyonder in the MCU, it is important to mention that he lived in another dimension of comics. In order to find a way to stop Thanos, the Avengers could inadvertently open a portal on this new world and release the Beyonder.
To enroll in the MCU, it is likely that Marvel will have to change the design, because it would be a little difficult for a modern being to see an almighty being inspired by the 80s flying in the universe.
17. GALACTUS
Perhaps one of the most iconic cosmic villains in Marvel's history, Galactus has made its mark on the Marvel Universe many times. Although already appearing in live-action in Four fantastic: rise of the money surfer, it is possible that Marvel tried to include it in the MCU.
The inclusion of Galactus would not only be a moment of great satisfaction for the crowd, but it could also be related to the MCU tradition. Galactus is a celestial, and knowing that the universe was much more vulnerable could prompt him to embark on a food adventure, devouring all the planets in his path.
16. KANG THE CONQUERANT
Kang the Conqueror has intelligence and time travel, which is all he needs to get the most out of the Avengers. It would be too easy to incorporate it. It could come from a distant future when the attack of Thanos destroyed the universe instead of saving it.
Going back in time, he could seek to defeat the Mad Titan and have a new thirst for power. Kang the conqueror was also the antagonist of LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2, a game devoid of characters for whom FOX had the rights to the film. This might suggest that Marvel Studios plans to use Kang in a future movie.
15. MAGE
Adam Warlock, if he's not yet released from his cocoon, already exists in the MCU. Created by the ruler, it was designed to destroy the Guardians of the Galaxy. One way to reinforce his presence would be to make Magus appear in Avengers 4. A Warlock version of the future, Magus was devilish and was looking to destroy the universe.
As the Warlock / Magus dynamic disappears, it may be interesting for franchisees to keep the Guardians of the Galaxy in a new iteration of a character they are forced to meet. That would also make a better connection with Warlock's teased presence in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (assuming Disney goes through this).
14. Dormammu
Strange doctor introduces two villains in the form of Kaecilius and Dormammu. Kaecilius, the man Strange fought, was only one man working for Dormammu. When the movie was finished, Strange had not defeated Dormammu, he had foiled it. This means that Dormammu is still in the Dark Dimension and has views of the Earth.
Knowing that Strange was destroyed by Infinity's gauntlet, Dormammu was able to seize the opportunity to conquer the Earth. Without the help of Strange, the Avengers would have no idea how to defeat this new enemy, which could prove interesting for the film.
13. King Chaos
Threat that has attacked the entire multiverse, the king of chaos is as powerful and scary as it comes. Have the desire to defeat all divine pantheons, as shown Ares: god of warThe king of chaos does not seem to have a limit. He can destroy entire worlds, confront other gods and always conquer.
He is not very well known to a character, although that did not stop Marvel from including a character in a movie before. Knowing that Asgard and the rest of the universe are in shambles, Chaos King could begin to redefine the MCU in his image.
12. Akhenaten
Cursed for his treatment of the Egyptian gods, Akhenaten was changed for the rest of his life. He was then allowed to access an object that would essentially turn him into a god. In his universe, Akhenaten was sent to Earth, where he devastated just about every existing superhero.
Akhenaton may be the least likely candidate on this list, it could be the loose result of Thanos' snap. It could also be an entity invoked intentionally or accidentally from another dimension by the Avengers. He could even be a celestial, leading Marvel to change him especially for Avengers 4.
11. THANE
Thanos did not live his life without heirs to his throne of madness. In the "Infinity" arc, it was revealed that he had a son named Thane, whose powers would only be fully activated after being exposed to the Terrigen haze. While Thane's story is heavily involved in Inhumans, it would be easy for Marvel to change things for the MCU.
Thane could be created as a result of Thanos living in peace. However, Thane could also be much stronger than his father, pushing the Avengers to team up reluctantly with the Mad Titan that they have already fought.
ten. Korvac
Michael Korvac was one of the smartest men in the multiverse. Born in a different reality before joining the first Marvel universe, he was blessed with knowledge. Finally, he had access to a great cosmic knowledge that allowed him to become his own god with a perfect physical form.
This came with a set of powers that made him a deadly cosmic being. Although not having many links in the MCU, Korvac is a character that could easily be written as the story requires it. If Marvel wanted to simplify things, he could simply be a native of the main universe with access to immense power.
9. THE FALLEN ONE
Galactus is known for turning various creatures into servants, like what he did at Silver Surfer. The first of his servants was the fallen. Blessed by dark energy rather than by cosmic power, the fallen one has revealed himself to be a malevolent being and has tried to destroy his master many times.
As a result, the fallen was rejected, destined to be imprisoned or to fight against other cosmic entities like Thanos. The Fallen One could pose a new threat to the Avengers in Avengers 4. After defeating him, it could be revealed that he was simply a herald of Galactus: an even greater threat to manifest himself during phase four.
8. MOLECULE MAN
Owen Reece was smart but carefree. During one of his experiments, he did not adequately monitor his environment and was subject to a serious accident. As in the case of comic characters, Reece is seen to assign awesome powers instead of serious injuries. He ended up with the power to modify the material at the molecular level.
This gave him the opportunity to dismount everything that stood in his way, even the Avengers. This kind of power could pose an interesting threat Avengers 4even though it would probably be more difficult to fit into the story set up in Avengers: Infinity War.
7. TYRANT
Tyrant was another servant of Galactus, but he was known for his immense power and his thirst for conquest. After the creation of Tyrant, he developed a plan to overthrow his master and conquer the universe. The two fought and Galactus barely won. Tyrant was so powerful that even Thanos knew the legends of his strength.
Tyrant could be integrated into the MCU by restructuring it into Celestial. Sensing the imbalance caused by the Gauntlet Infinity, Tyrant could seize his opportunity to conquer and try to take over. It would be an interesting way to make Thanos regret his actions.
6. THE SNAKE
Odin is known to keep many secrets of his family. Not only did Loki prove to be a frost giant, but Hela was also a secret firstborn who had only returned after his death. In comics, Odin also had a brother known as the Serpent, the god of fear.
After the fall of Asgard in Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity Warit might be time for Snake to make his choice. Knowing that his nephew is still alive, Snake could try to take the Asgardian king as a way to end his brother's line once and for all. It would be a terribly focused move on Marvel's Thor, but they seem to give him more time on screen anyway.
5. ARON THE WATCHER
Observers are a race of beings whose purpose is simply to monitor the universe. They must not interfere or get involved. However, Aron the observer was not fond of this rule and found it exciting to mingle with the humans of the Earth. He was therefore fought by other observers. The Watchers have already been confirmed in the MCU during Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Although it is an ordered Easter egg, it is possible that it gives a result a little more interesting Avengers 4. As the universe crumbled, Aron could decide to get involved and try to reshape the world in his own way, pushing the Avengers to fight as well.
4. THE CRULES
The Skrulls make their live-action debut in Captain Marvel. Above all, they were best known for taking on the appearance and powers of the Marvel heroes and masquerading as their only attempt to conquer the Earth during the "secret invasion." Marvel could play with that in Avengers 4, make the Skrull begin to move after the universe and its heroes are in disarray.
They could prove to be slow, by organizing a plan to conquer the universe with their remaining members, which could explain why Captain Marvel involves them more easily. It's a little exaggerated, but we doubt that Marvel asks the Skrulls to use them in only one movie.
3. THE TRUE MANDARIN
Mandarin fans were extremely disappointed when Iron Man 3 revealed that it was just a man playing the role. The Marvel one-shot "All Hail the King," said the Ten Rings were a powerful organization led by a character called Mandarin. Avengers 4 Maybe time to capitalize on this subtle tease.
In this way, Marvel could embrace the more Mandarin side of Mandarin and give him all the abilities he had in comics. Although it's a little random to introduce such a character, he has at least some training in the MCU.
2. THE GREAT MASTER
In Thor: Ragnarokit was not clear how much the grand master had power. Although he is at the helm of an entire planet and he recklessly controls all kinds of champions, his power level has never been fully demonstrated. He was still alive at the end of the film, but the collector met his end in Avengers: Infinity War.
Considering that both were brothers in the comics, it is possible that the same thing is true in the MCU. After hearing about his brother, the Grand Master might decide to make the decision to control the universe, going straight to Thanos and Thor.
1. KREE EMPIRE
The Kree proved to be one of the most resilient organizations in the Marvel Universe. In the MCU, they appeared for the first time in Guardians of the Galaxy and are ready to appear again in Captain Marvel. Such a massive civilization could easily have more impact on the MCU. Although they do not have the accuser Ronan by their side, they should have a lot of firepower.
After the death of half of their people, they could easily decide to ransack the universe, somehow accusing the Avengers of taking it on their own. It would then be up to the most powerful heroes on Earth to solve this problem as well.
