Eight people have been shot and 17 wounded in Chicago since 17h. Friday.
Seven people were shot dead on Friday night – two of them died as a result of their injuries. On Saturday, three people were killed and four others injured.
Three men were gunned down when gunfire broke out around 3:40 pm Sunday, in the 400 block of North Springfield Avenue in East Garfield Park, Chicago police said. A 37-year-old man seated in a vehicle was shot in the head and died shortly thereafter at Mt. Sinai Hospital. The office of the Cook County Medical Examiner did not reveal the details of his death.
A 34-year-old man, standing nearby, was hit on the buttocks and a third man, aged 32, was shot in the right leg, police said. Their wounds did not put their lives in danger.
Earlier Sunday, a woman and a man were found in a car parked in the west end of Austin.
Just before 2:00 am, police found Keshonda Monique Maxey, 19, and Matrix Luster, 26, shot dead in block 100 of North Lockwood Avenue, according to Chicago police and the office. of the medical examiner.
Maxey was shot in the head and declared dead at the scene, the authorities said. Chandelier was shot several times and taken to Stroger Hospital where he died.
Both lived about one block from where they were shot.
Detectives in the North Zone were investigating a homicide.
A few hours earlier on Saturday, a man was shot while driving in the Gage Park neighborhood in the southwestern district.
Juan Cruz, 21, was driving east around 22:40. In block 2700 west of 58th Street, shots were fired into his vehicle and he crashed into a parked vehicle, authorities said.
Cruz, who lived in the neighborhood, was shot in the left shoulder and was taken to the medical center of the University of Chicago, authorities said. He was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
At the scene of the shooting, a yellow band of criminal film circled the black van Chrysler Cruz, who stood near the sidewalk with his rear window broken by bullets. Detectives from the central area investigated the homicide.
Earlier Saturday afternoon, a man was killed in East Garfield Park. This was the second homicide committed in 24 hours in the same block.
Leetemi Daniels, 41, was shot several times after 14:30. in block 3100 of West Washington Boulevard, the authorities said. Daniels was hit in the abdomen and chest and was declared dead on the scene.
Less than a day earlier, on Friday, Rodney Jernigan, 34, was shot and killed at around 18:45. while he was walking on a sidewalk in the same block on Friday, authorities said. He was shot in the chest and head and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Before dawn on Saturday, a double fatal shootout hit the Albany Park neighborhood on the northwest side.
Two men were sitting in a vehicle parked in an alley around 5:20 am in block 4400 North Bernard Street when a person approached on foot and opened fire, police said.
Roberto Ramirez, 23, was shot in the head and declared dead on the scene, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said. Ramirez lived a block away from where he had been shot.
The other man, 22, was shot in the face and was taken to the Masonic Medical Center of Illinois in critical condition, the police said.
On Sunday, residents of Albany Park demonstrated against gun violence.
Late Friday, a man was shot dead in the East Side neighborhood. Jesus Gomez, 39, was standing among a group of people around 9:25 pm in the 3600 block of East 99th Street, when two men inside a vehicle fired, authorities said.
Gomez, a native of southern Chicago, was shot in the back and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died at 10:09, authorities said.
Nobody was in detention and the detectives in the southern zone were investigating a homicide.
Last weekend, 27 people were killed, three of them fatally by armed violence throughout the city.
