After the Eagles' 21-17 defeat against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA, head coach Doug Pederson tried to put into perspective the fourth quarter's collapse.

I fully understand what Pederson does with these comments. Last year, the Eagles made the most of their perception of the underdogs and won the title. They savored "no one gives us the role of respect" until their great victory against the Patriots. Pederson liked it so much to use this motivational technique that he now wants to use it again, even though his team is defending champion of the Super Bowl until next February. But the Eagles are not the same team as last year in no phase. This has been particularly evident this season in the four-point games – the third tries in the red zone. They can not convert with the same success as last season and their inability to convert the third rounds to Sunday's overall standings, just 1-4 in the fourth quarter and 3-12 in total, cost them the match. Last year, the Eagles recorded a remarkable 51.4% on the third run in the red zone, making it the third best in the NFL. This year they are 21.1%, ranking 31st in the NFL. Losing these four-point games is a killer.
