Blue Star Line gives another shot to the Titanic.
Clive Palmer, President of Blue Star Line, confirmed today that work on Titanic II has begun. The goal is to hand the Titanic II into service on the line connecting the Atlantic to London and New York in 2022, following his initial trip.
The Titantic II, however, will also tour the world "attracting unparalleled attention" in every port visited, he said.
"Blue Star Line will create an authentic titanic experience, offering passengers a vessel with the same interiors and cabin layout as the original vessel, while incorporating modern safety procedures, navigation methods and technology. of the 21st century to produce the highest level of luxurious comfort. The last time Palmer announced progress on the Titanic II in 2015, Mineralogy, the dispute of its flagship company with the Chinese government Citic Limited on the non-payment of hundreds of millions of dollars in royalties owed to Palmer companies.
"Citic Limited exported millions of dollars of mineral resources and refused to pay them," Palmer said.
At the end of 2017, Western Australia's Supreme Court ordered Citic Limited to pay hundreds of millions of royalty arrears to Blue Star Line's parent company, Mineralogy.
Blue Star Line is supported by its holding company to build and operate Titanic II. Each year, Citic must continue to pay substantial royalties.
Palmer confirmed that the financial constraints resulting from Citic's inability to pay Mineralogy its financial rights were responsible for the suspension of work on the Titanic, but stated that these problems had been solved.
Palmer was in London to confirm and issue a video showing the ship's final technical specifications.
The Titanic sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in 1912, four days after the start of the voyage between Southampton and New York after hitting an iceberg. More than 1500 people died.
