What do you think of tons of trashy speeches that come from Michigan football after the decisive victory over the Michigan State?

Mark Dantonio delivered the prophetic words of 2007 that put this rivalry afloat.

"It's not over, it will never be over," he said following Mike Hart's infamous "little brother" speech. "It's just beginning."

Jim Harbaugh did not say that following Wolverines' 21-7 win over the Spartans on Saturday. Dantonio did not say it either. But everyone who watched the game and watched what happened before and after the match felt that the quote is as relevant as it was back in 2007.

It's just beginning.

U-M showed Saturday how good they can be. They also showed how much they care. For years, the cliché was that this game was more important for MSU than for Michigan. Harbaugh was asked immediately after last week's win over Wisconsin if his team would be able to match the intensity of the Spartans and he calmly announced, "Yes. We will be intense for that. "

When he dismissed any further discussion on snapshots Monday, I think he was specifically referring to this topic. Harbaugh pointed out that he had grown up with this game, that he had played there and that he had been coaching.

Windsor: Harbaugh continues to shoot at MSU – do not expect him to stop

Inner story: Rookies may feel the intensity and hate rivalry between Michigan and Michigan states

It should come as no surprise that U-M was hoisted before, during and after the match. As insulting as it is to watch an opponent, a bitter at the same time, celebrate on your court, it's a sign of respect. If it was a non-rival or a "little brother" (I'll say it), the players would shake hands, get the trophy and get out of the field. They celebrated because they cared. They celebrated because it's bitter for them. They celebrated because it's a rivalry.

As for the side stories of the game and the post-match, it's not very good for anyone. But it's good for a rivalry and that's the end result. Nobody was hurt. No expletives were publicly launched. No fine or suspension will be pronounced. Maybe in the future, there should be a clearer route for who's on the ground and when they are (maybe there are already some and some parts just did not follow it).

If you are looking for a gun or an instigator, you will not find it. The Spartans knew exactly where they were heading and the Wolverines knew exactly what was waiting for them. It was a slow-speed "chicken" game to see who would blink first and the Spartans wore a helmet for good measure. Some players have moved to Michigan. Some players are disconnected from each other for MSU. There was always a collision. As for calling the collision a "clothesline"? It seems a bit extreme.

Devin Bush digging the grass? A bad look and totally useless. But again, no real harm.

TO CLOSE

Michigan soccer coach Jim Harbaugh has entered Michigan State and Mark Dantonio at his press conference Monday break week in Ann Arbor.
Nick Baumgardner, press

Chase Winovich abandoning the "little brother" line after the match? A bad look and totally useless.

But let 's not forget that LJ Scott called Michigan "little sister" during the summer, so the "little ones" seem to fly fast and furious (Hart must be so proud.)

It's a rivalry with a lot of layers and a lot of chapters. And even though Saturday may have exploded into something that no one could have expected, I do not think it went through a line of violence. It is clear that some things were said on the ground based on the number of penalty flags that flew for no apparent reason. But if you do not think the players were yelling on the pitch, even though this rivalry was one-way, you've never heard of one of those microscopic versions of football's best moments.

Dantonio likes the fact that his players hate Michigan. They took the opportunity to record an 8-3 record in his previous 11 seasons at East Lansing. If he was smiling 5 meters from his team as they crossed the field, so be it. He probably saw it as more gasoline on fire. I refuse to believe that it made Bush or Lawrence Marshall play harder.

I do not know where this rivalry will be heading although November 16, 2019 can not happen here fast enough. The Spartans have clearly caught the attention of U-M. It only took 10 years. Michigan responded by hammering MSU on the ground and not respecting them. We all know that Dantonio feeds on disrespect and simply adds another flea to his team's shoulders.

What happened on Saturday should motivate MSU during the off-season and next fall when they meet again.

In other words.

This is not finished. It will never be finished. It's just beginning.
