Writer / Producer Ryan Murphy tells his own horror story: the cancer diagnosis of his young son.
The co-creator of "9-1-1" and "Pose" released Monday about his son's battle on Instagram. "Today is a great day in his life and in that of our family.
"Two years ago, a neuroblastoma was diagnosed in this sweet innocent little boy with deep laughter and obsessed with Monster Trucks. It's a pediatric cancer often deadly, "Murphy continued. "Ford's cancer – an abdominal tumor the size of a tennis ball – was discovered during a normal examination by his brilliant pediatrician, Dr. Lauren Crosby @drlaurencrosby."
According to the American Cancer Society's website: "Neuroblastoma begins in some very early forms of nerve cells, most commonly found in an embryo or fetus. (The term neuro refers to the nerves, while the blastoma refers to cancer that affects immature or developing cells.) This type of cancer occurs most often in infants and young children, and is rare in children over 10 years of age. "
Muprhy said that, as part of the treatment of his son, he had undergone an operation and "several difficult procedures". Murphy attributes to her photographer husband a source of strength.
"My better half, David Miller, was a rock through that – strong, patient and loving (I've always been a shaky wreck)," Murphy wrote. He also shared that his son is now healthy.
"Ford was also strong and today it is booming, it has just celebrated its fourth birthday, an event that we are all passionate about," wrote Murphy, attributing the vitality of his son to the world. Los Angeles Children's Hospital.
"Today, at the hospital, we are giving a wing in tribute to Ford and our family is donating $ 10 million so that other children can experience the hospital. Love and care for this outstanding facility, "Murphy said. "No children are denied at the children's hospital.
"We are so honored and fortunate to contribute and encourage all who can to do the same," Murphy said. "We love you, Ford."
