UFC lightweight Al Iaquinta criticized Conor McGregor's performance against Khabib Nurmagomedov in UFC 229 earlier this month, saying the Irishman had a good conversation but finished by "facing the bed".

Iaquinta (13-4-1) replaced Max Holloway in a short time to face Khabib at UFC 223 in April, winning the full five rounds against the Russian, but losing a one-sided decision. Prior to that, "Ragin Al" had eliminated Diego Sanchez in the first round after returning to the UFC as a result of a contractual dispute with the promotion.

When he spoke on Ariel Helwani's MMA Show on Monday, Iaquinta presented his point of view on McGregor's defeat in the fourth round against Khabib in UFC 229.

"He's beaten well, certainly has a lot of skills. Revenge is not what he can fix. Iaquinta said. "You can train yourself to defend the takedowns, to get up, to train for a million things. The only thing you can not lead to is having a heart when it gets really difficult.

McGregor questioned the legitimacy of Khabib UFC's lightweight title before their fight at UFC 229, downplaying Russia's fight with Iaquinta as a win over "an eleventh-ranked real estate agent".

"When you feel like you're about to die, try to find a way to live without the umpire tugging at you and saving you. This will not be resolved if they fight in six months, a year or three years. It's always going to be there, it does not change.

"His teammates are not going to help him and all this money is not going to buy from the heart. So he can say what he wants, I'm selling real estate, I'm number 11, but in the end, it's certainly not harder than me. (Transcription via MMA Mania)

Al Iaquinta will enter the Octagon to face Kevin Lee in a UFC rematch at FOX 31 on Dec. 15 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
