Blackpool police publish a ticket on Facebook for strange reasons: the suspect featured in the message looks like actor David Schwimmer, best known for playing the role of Ross Geller in the popular sitcom FRIENDS. The British police call for help in identifying the suspect has elicited thousands of hilarious comments, mostly from fans of the TV show of the '90s. The police have since confirmed that the The man on the picture was not, in fact, David Schwimmer, who was not even in the UK at the time of the flight.
Eighteen hours ago, the Blackpool police shared a video of CCTV from the man, who was nicknamed a spitting image of David Schwimmer, aka Ross. He is suspected of stealing a restaurant in Blackpool on October 20th.
Since it's been posted, the photo has been "shared" more than 60,000 times and has collected over 8 lakh comments, mostly from people who have pointed out its striking similarity to Ross's FRIENDS. And it seems that the police are in agreement with them!
"Thank you all for your prompt responses, we thoroughly investigated this case and confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on that date," they wrote, according to the BBC.
"We are sorry that this is so."
Comments on the post viral, in the meantime, all seem to be referring FRIENDS. and popular jokes of the series.
"I do not think it's this guy's day, his week, his month or even his year …" writes one person in the comments section. "Leave him, he grew up with Monica, IF YOU DO NOT EAT QUICKLY YOU HAS NOT EATENED," he jokes. "It's clearly not Ross, they're as different as the night and … later in the night," says a third.
