Residents of about 100 homes in the Sherwood Forest area of Montgomery County were told to stay at home.
The incident began just after 9 a.m. in the 13500 block of Montvale Drive when the police said they responded to a report of domestic violence between a man, believed to be about 25, and his grandfather.
The grandfather made it out of the home along Montvale Drive, just off Randolph Road, according to Capt. Paul Starks, police spokesman. He was treated in an ambulance that came to the scene, Starks said. The grandson was taken into custody at about 2 p.m., Starks said, a little more than an hour after tactical officers outside the door.
The sounds of the canister rounds – more than 15-to-14-minute stretch – could be heard several times at home.
