These were Peterson's first public comments since ESPN's Adam Schefter announced Monday that Peterson "desperately wanted" to leave Arizona and asked to be traded before the transaction deadline.
The cardinals are 1-6.
Peterson met Cardinals President Michael Bidwill for 30 minutes Tuesday, and they discussed ways for the Cardinals to improve and for Peterson to be a leader, sources told Schefter.
Bidwill assured Peterson that his team was determined to win, sources said.
Later on Monday, Cardinals coach Steve Wilks said the team would not deal with Peterson.
"We are not negotiating Patrick," said Wilks. "That's out of the question."
Wilks announced Monday that he expected to talk to Peterson later in the day. The Cardinals were absent Tuesday and will resume training next Wednesday, when Wilks will address the media.
Peterson, who signed a five-year extension worth $ 70 million in 2014, is still two years old. The fifth pick in 2011, Peterson is a Pro Bowler seven times and an All Pro three times.
