Robert Rundo reportedly attended the Charlottesville event last year that shocked the nation

The leader of a white supremacist group based in California was arrested and charged with inciting riots.

Robert Rundo, co-founder of the Rise Above movement, was arrested Sunday at the Los Angeles International Airport.

Three other people were also charged, one of whom is still on the run.

The four men are accused of having participated in events in California and one in Charlottesville, Virginia, last year that caused the death of a woman and shocked the nation. .

Earlier this month, four other members of the Rise Above movement were accused of attacking counter-protesters at the Unite the Right protest in Charlottesville in August 2017.

A woman died after a man entered a crowd of counter-protesters.

According to the New York Times, Mr. Rundo, 28, had returned to Mexico and was "brought back" to the United States to be arrested at the Los Angeles airport.

Members of the Rise Above movement, Robert Boman, 25, and Tyler Laube, 22, were arrested on Wednesday while Aaron Eason, 38, is still on the run.

The US Attorney's Office claims to have acted with "the intent to incite, organize, promote, encourage, participate in or conduct riots".

Three of the four, including Mr. Rundo, are accused of attacking counter-protesters and journalists at a Make America Great Again rally in Huntingdon Beach, California, in March.

Mr. Rundo allegedly assaulted two demonstrators, while Mr. Laube allegedly hit a journalist in the face.

Mr. Rundo went to Europe earlier this year with two of the people already indicted in the Charlottesville case to celebrate the birthday of Adolf Hitler.
