President Donald Trump promised Wednesday to bring to justice those responsible for bombing this week, which targeted prominent figures and CNN – but he also criticized the media.
"No nation can succeed who tolerates violence or the threat of violence as a method of intimidation, coercion or political control," Trump told a rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin on Wednesday night. . "Such conduct must be fiercely opposed and firmly pursued."
"We want all parties to unite in peace and harmony," he added. "We can do it, we can do it, we can do it. It will happen. "
Trump then partially blamed the media for the political bomb threat and division of the country.
"As part of a broader national effort to reduce our divisions and bring people closer together, the media also has the responsibility to give a civil tone and put an end to endless hostility and attacks. and negative and often wrong stories, "added Trump. "They have to stop, gather people."

Several suspicious packages apparently containing explosive devices have been mailed to prominent Democrats, including Hillary and Bill Clinton, former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden, announced Wednesday from law enforcement officials.
CNN headquarters in New York also received a suspicious package, addressed to former CIA director John Brennan. The Manhattan Time Warner Center, where CNN's offices are located, was evacuated on Wednesday after a package containing a homemade bomb and white powder was found in the mailroom at around 9am.
Another suspicious package was found in the office of Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) In Sunrise, Fla., Wednesday. It was addressed to former Attorney General Eric Holder, but was redirected to Schultz's address.
The items in the packages looked like an explosive device sent to billionaire George Soros, a prominent Democratic donor and frequent target of far right conspiracy theories earlier this week.
According to the FBI, all packages delivered this week were marked Schultz's Florida office on the return address label.
Trump constantly criticized the media during his presidential campaign and up to his presidency, even going so far as to promote violence against journalists on social media and during its protests.
At a rally in Montana last week, the president congratulated Republican Greg Gianforte for his assault in 2017 on Guardian journalist Ben Jacobs. Trump described Gianforte as a "difficult cookie" and "my kind of guy".
Gianforte pleaded guilty to assault as a result of his attack on Jacobs.
At Wednesday's protest, the president did not recognize this or his other attacks on the media and fellow lawmakers. He called on other actors in the political scene to "stop treating political opponents as morally defective people".
"The language of moral condemnation and destructive routine are arguments and disagreements that must stop," said Trump. "Nobody should imprudently compare his political opponents to historical villains. We should not mobilize people in public spaces or destroy public property. There is a way to express your opinion. it is peacefully called to the ballot box.
Despite his call for unity, however, Trump launched a few personal attacks against Democratic lawmakers during his speech while insisting that he "was trying to be kind".
He described Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) As a "radical left-wing" opponent who wants a "socialist takeover" of health care.
"You know, I'm trying to say it very nicely," Trump said. "Normally I shouted," They want a socialist takeover! ""
