N.F.L. Predictions of the week 8: Our choices against the spread

Seahawks at Lions, 1 pm Fox

The Seahawks (3-3) have won three of their last four games, but with two of their victories against Oakland and Arizona, it's hard to get excited for them. Even with the improvement, their path to a wild card looks terribly stiff (there is no point pretending that they have a chance to catch the Rams for the division title). They have a brutal course in the next five weeks. Going on the road to Detroit is more complicated than it has been in recent years, as the Lions (3-3) found a balance in their attack, while Kerryon Johnson and LeGarrette Blount got them offered a decent racing game. This match should be an excellent barometer to find out if the rebuilt defense of Seattle has improved or if it has just faced an easy competition. To choose: Lions -3

Red skins in giants, 1 pm, Fox

Give a little credit to the giants (1-6): they played a game Monday night against Atlanta. Coach Pat Shurmur struggled to accept some calls that were unconventional and did not work for the team, but it was the same type of mathematical decisions that praised Doug Pederson for Philadelphia and Ron Rivera from Carolina in recent years. Organizing the Redskins (4-2) is a tough match because Washington is not only more talented, but they have something to play with the N.F.C. Looks like it's up to them for taking. Colts at Raiders, 16:05, CBS

The Raiders (1-5) are certainly not tanked. Coach Jon Gruden made it clear throughout his second term with the team. They plan to win as many games as possible in their last year in Oakland. Trading away, Khalil Mack, their best defensive player, before the season beats, and exchanging Amari Cooper, their most talented wide receiver, earlier this week was also not refueling. The draft picks they have chosen will surely help them defeat the Colts (2-5) this week. To choose: Colts -3

49ers at the cardinals, 4:25 pm, Fox

It is difficult to imagine a match less relevant at the beginning of the season. The 49ers (1-6) season came to a close when Jimmy Garoppolo was injured in the third week of the week. The Cardinals (1-6) had no waiting to start. The Upshot playoff simulator gives San Francisco a better chance to play in the playoffs: this team is 1%, while Arizona is labeled <1%. This match should end with a tie, with neither team deserving of a win, but Arizona will likely win it based on an added advantage. To choose: Cardinals +1
