Here are the latest predictions from the National Weather Service on the nor’easter that’s expected to arrive in Massachusetts late Friday night.
■ Strong coastal winds are probably going to be the biggest effect from the storm. The strongest winds will be on the Cape and Islands, where three to six hours of 50- to 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts are possible, which could damage trees and cause power outages.
■ Minor flooding on the state’s east coast is possible. The Saturday afternoon high tide could be the biggest problem as winds drive water onshore. Areas from coastal Plymouth County to the North Shore are considered most vulnerable.
■ With the wind dying down, coastal flooding is not expected to be a problem during the late Saturday night high tide.
■ It will be an all-rain event in Southern New England, with the possible exception of a brief snow or wintry mix late Friday night or early Saturday across the Berkshires.
■ Rain will move north into Southern New England late Friday night. Heavy rainfall will be focused Saturday.
■ One to 2 inches of rain are possible, with the heaviest amounts across southeastern portions of the region, where locally higher amounts are possible.
■ Nuisance urban and poor drainage flooding is possible in “typically vulnerable” locations.
