Former Texas Rangers and Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin is reportedly absent for the position of executive director of the New York Mets. Van Wagenen issued a longer statement in which he said that "baseball is better when the Mets are competitive and prosperous". The 44-year-old is co-head of CAA baseball and represents several current Mets including Jacob deGrom, Yoenis Cespedes, Noah Syndergaard, Todd Frazier and Tim Tebow.
Whether it's Bloom or Van Wagenen, the next general manager of the Mets will immediately face some big questions as he will attempt to turn around a boiling organization.
