Broncos alternate quarterback Chad Kelly, who was attending the Halloween party, was present before his arrest was secret and safe, Denver linebacker Von Miller said.
Miller had hired team security and private security.
"It was a private event, it was safe," said Miller, via ESPN. "I had the security of the team there, I had my own private security there … just about every sport in Denver." It was a private event, and it was Was a Halloween party, it was a safe event. "
Miller organized the evening, which has become an annual affair for Denver's sports players. Members of the Outlaws, the Denver Professional Lacrosse Team, the Nuggets and the Kings were present.
Kelly was arrested later on Tuesday for first degree criminal assault. He was then lifted by the Broncos on Wednesday.
"Of course, we got Chad's news, I care about Chad as a person," said Miller. "The party was separated from his problems I love the guy, I wish the best for him."
A number of players and team leaders said that Kelly had "acted" on that night and that he had been asked to leave at a certain time of night, ESPN announced.
Kelly's arrest comes after a couple declared that he had entered their homes uninvited and that he "muttered incoherently," according to an affidavit of determination of the probable cause.
