New York and Philadelphia could see heavy rain and strong winds Friday night to Saturday. Snow is expected for high altitudes in northern New York State and New England.
The good news is that the big cities in the northeast will probably avoid the snow because the temperatures are too high. But the inland and mountainous regions of the region may not be so lucky.
"The storm will encounter a colder air, which will move from a low tropical pressure zone to a more winter storm system," said CNN meteorologist Brandon Miller.
"The exact impacts will depend on the storm track on the east coast, and some models take the system further offshore, which would minimize the amount of wind and snow / rain," said Miller.
In both cases, Miller said, "Willa will have a second life over the United States."
