Those planning to attend a Friday political rally in Detroit with former President Barack Obama should expect high levels of security at and around Cass Tech High School, the gathering site.

Secret services and other federal agencies should strengthen security measures – which are already high for a visit of a former president – in the light of recent events involving apparent explosive devices, according to many media Friday .

In recent days, devices described as homemade bombs have been sent by mail or delivered to many well-known targets, often associated with the Democratic Party. One of them was sent to Obama's home in Washington, DC. Officials did not say whether the devices were capable of detonating.
