The queen (and her prince) towards the end of the Victorian era
Here is Queen Victoria towards the end of her life (mid-1890s), sitting at her desk, with a picture of her late husband, Prince Albert, who died in 1861. Victoria was very sentimental about her life. Edward VII before becoming king
After Queen Victoria, her eldest son, born Albert Edward, was nicknamed "Bertie". He was seen here in 1841, when he was young, with his wife, Princess Alexandra, and three of their six children. : Princess Mary, Prince Albert Victor and Prince George, who will later become King George V. Although he is the next on the throne, Bertie spent his years before the reign in as a party animal, for his parents' grief.
George V, Prince Harry of his time
King George V, photographed here about 1885, when he was 20 years old and still Prince George, was the second-son born of King Edward VII, making George the "Prince Harry" of his time. Like Harry, George grew up hopelessly to become king. Destiny, however, had different projects.
