LIVERPOOL, England – Sadio Mane scored two goals as Liverpool scored three points ahead of the English Premier League after beating Cardiff 4-1 at Anfield on Saturday.
While the Manchester City morning leader was not in action before Monday's visit to Tottenham, Liverpool left early.
Mohamed Salah, who scored his 50th goal in the middle of the week, scored 51 goals in 66 games in Liverpool after blocking Mane's shot in the 10th minute.
Senegalese striker Mane raised the score to 2-0.
Callum Paterson scored a goal in 77th for Cardiff, thanks to a deflection of local defender Virgil van Dijk.
Xherdan Shaqiri avoided a tense end to the hosts, scoring Liverpool's third goal, and Mane cut the ball to goalkeeper Neil Etheridge three minutes from the end.
The only negative point for Liverpool is that he failed to establish a club record with 10 consecutive home draws in the first division.
