Implications for the SEC Championship, reassuring eruptions and crazy returns – Week 9 had it all. But most importantly, it had many implications for the image of the college football playoffs.

Kentucky maintained their hopes in the playoffs (yes, you read that correctly), winning the return game against Missouri, 15-14.

This victory means that next week's Kentucky-Georgia match has it all. The winner will win the SEC East and head for the title game against Alabama or LSU. The loser will have a hard battle to climb to play in the playoffs.
# 7 Georgia 36, # 9 Florida 17
Speaking of Georgia, the Bulldogs took a win against Florida's No. 9 Bell, although the match was much tighter than it should have been. Georgia forced three turnovers, but the match was at one point until quarterback Jake Fromm scored his third touchdown of the match about nine minutes from the end. A 33-yard Andre Swift touchdown four minutes later gave an exclamation point to an impressive rebound for Georgia after losing 20 points to LSU two weeks ago.

In all likelihood, this loss puts an end to the hopes of the CFP in Florida. The Gators now have two losses and will not be able to compete for the SEC championship.

Ok, Trevor Lawrence is for real. No, there was no legitimate question about it until this week, but his show against Florida State showed how high the ceiling of the real recruit can be. One potential concern is seeing the second consecutive week that Travis Etienne was limited to less than 50 yards. The Sooners' offense was rarely an issue, but Saturday was a good performance for the Oklahoma defense, which kept Kansas State 4 out of 12 in the third defeat, and missed defenseman Alex Barnes.
