Austin Water chief Greg Meszaros told reporters on Friday that the utility's water treatment plants were more likely to be used at a higher rate.
Meszaros said officials are still asking for as much water as possible until then.
"As soon as we get to the point of this crisis, we will be doing a lot of things and we will be doing a lot of things in the future. "It's going to be more resilient, and we're going to be able to weather it," he said.
Authorities first issued the boil notice in the early hours of Oct. 22, which quickly sold out.
