The owner of the Cleveland Browns, Jimmy Haslam, was impatient for years when it came to his main coaches. When he needed to be impatient with Hue Jackson, he was giving her more time.

The decision to stick to Jackson, first in a 1-15 season, and then in a 0-16 season, could cost the Browns a chance to play in the playoffs this year. They have won many victories this season, including two weeks ago in overtime against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They fell to 2-5-1 with a defeat on Sunday against the Steelers. Although it is strange to say about the Browns, they are much better than their record. Coaching did not help, especially in those close games. Malfunctioning staff, especially between Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley, mentioned by Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, was also a problem.

Hue Jackson was intriguing hire, but did not work
The Jackson rental looked good when the Browns did it. Jackson has had good seasons as offensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals. After years of instability, the Browns would have a hard time finding a qualified coach, and Jackson was a relatively hot name when the Browns landed him.
Nothing went well, though. The first season gave only one victory, in the penultimate match. You may have excused this because Jackson inherited a mediocre list. It was harder to explain how the Browns were even worse in their second season, recording the second 0-16 record in NFL history.
What makes Jackson come back for an even stranger third season is that Cleveland cleaned up the house from the front desk, dismissing general manager Sashi Brown but giving another year to Jackson. When the Browns broke their famous losing streak earlier this season, it was despite Jackson's stubbornness. Jackson wanted to put Tyrod Taylor over first choice, Baker Mayfield, and repeatedly said that the most talented Mayfield should try. Taylor suffered a concussion in Week 3, forcing Jackson to play Mayfield for the first time. Mayfield led a thrilling comeback that night. If it had been decided by Jackson, his talented rookie quarter would never have been on the field.
That pretty much sums up Jackson's time with the Browns.
The Browns holiday is interesting

The Browns holiday will be interesting to follow. The horrible recent story of the Browns will not help. Nor is a property situation that is considered one of the worst in the NFL. But the candidates will look at the talent on the list, especially with Mayfield in first place, and the positive. Cleveland should interest attractive candidates.
And the biggest plus is perhaps the following: it will not be difficult for the next Browns coach to be an improvement over Jackson and his miserable run.
