Each year, NASA spends nearly $ 4 billion on the development of its exploration equipment, including the Space Launch System rocket, the Orion space shuttle, the launch pad and related facilities. Precourt noted that there was a lot of criticism of the SLS rocket program outside of the major entrepreneurs involved in its development. Precourt said subcontractors should consider a future in which NASA's multi-billion dollar rocket development costs must be cut in half for the SLS vehicle to have a solid future.
