Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Adnan Alonto, met with MLSD officials, led by Abdul-Rahman bin Fahd Almuqbel, as well as representatives of Azmeel to find ways to address workers' concerns.

Among the complaints raised by Filipino workers were unpaid wages, penalties for non-renewal of iqamas, non-issuance of iqamas, non-award of annual leave and the non-issuance of final exit visas.

According to MLSD officials, they are monitoring the situation and pledging to help the workers in the company because Azmeel has a good track record.

Azmeel representatives indicated that they are currently working to address the concerns of workers and will work closely with MLSD and the Embassy to resolve the situation in the coming months.

Alonto also met some 150 Filipino workers from Azmeel.

The envoy assured the workers that the Embassy and POLO were ready to provide any assistance needed to address their concerns and would work closely with Saudi Arabian labor officials to ensure that the company was able to fulfill its contractual obligations to workers, including the payment of transportation costs. their salaries and benefits.

Earlier this month, clashes erupted between police authorities and striking workers in Saudi Arabia's oil-rich eastern province during riots related to unpaid wages.
