WATCH LIVE: 3 children fatally hit and 1 injured at a school bus stop in Fulton County, Indiana

Three children were beaten and killed and another seriously injured at a school bus stop in Indiana on Tuesday morning, Indiana State Police said.

The kids were beaten as they were boarding a bus near 4600 N State Road 25 in Rochester, Fulton County, police said. Rochester is located about 45 miles south of South Bend.

One of the children was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital, the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation announced. State police told WRTV affiliate that the three students killed belonged to the same family.

The school society said in a statement: "Our school society suffered a tragedy this morning, we learned that three students died and that one student is seriously injured and flown to a Fort Wayne hospital after was hit by a vehicle while he was getting on his bus.

We have deployed all school counselors to meet the emotional needs of our staff, students and parents.

We expect more confirmed details, but want to ask the community to come together to pray for families, our students and our staff. "

The police did not immediately release the details of the incident.
