Terrelle Pryor stays at AFC East and signs with Bills

Ten days after her release by the New York Jets, Terrelle Pryor is back in the AFC East.

The receiver companion is signing a one-year contract with the Buffalo Bills, said an NFL-affiliate, Insider Ian Rapoport.

New York eliminated Pryor earlier this month after only six games, citing the hamstring injury of the receiver as a motivator. Pryor captured 14 passes for 235 yards and two goals in East Rutherford, behind the trio of Robby Anderson, Jermaine Kearse and Quincy Enunwa. Since Pryor's departure, the Jets have suffered a series of injuries to their receivers.

The Bills are Pryor's fourth organization in three years. Since he was selected by the Oakland Raiders in 2011, Pryor has rebounded around the league and training. He started nine matches at QB in Oakland in 2013, mainly in Cleveland, Washington and New York. His best season was with the Browns in 2016 when he was targeted 140 times and totaled 1,007 rushing yards, which earned him a one-year contract at D.C.

In Buffalo, one might assume that Pryor will be directly integrated into a body of receivers including Kelvin Benjamin, Zay Jones, Andre Holmes, Ray-Ray McCloud and Cam Phillips. But could we see Pryor playing under center or at least in a wild cat role, at Brad Smith?

With Derek Anderson starting Monday night, the Bills played five games with Wild Cat, with LeSean McCoy as leader, averaging 1.8 yards per game and a 40% success rate. Maybe Pryor, who is more threatening to throw the ball, could improve Buffalo's skills in the wildcat, keeping the opposing defenses on his heels and moving the ball away from the hands of Anderson or Nathan Peterman during that Josh Allen is recovering. (Or maybe not, who knows?)
