Roger Stone expands his legal team and takes polygraphs covering topics of interest to Mueller

ABC News first announced the hiring contract on Tuesday and said Rogow had suggested to Stone to take a polygraph relating to potentially interesting issues for the special advocate.

"I suggested a polygraph to pinpoint the veracity of Roger's positions on the Special Council's investigation regarding Julian Assange and Wikileaks," Rogow said. "I have great confidence in the polygraph examiner, to whom I sent Mr. Stone."

ABC reported that Stone had answered "no" to the polygraph questions on the question of whether he had contacted WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in the 2016 presidential election, he had already discussed stolen information from WikiLeaks with Trump during the same period.

The press briefing indicated that he was not able to verify the accuracy of the results.

Stone told The Hill that he had been "declared truthful in both tests evaluated by two respected experts". The Hill is not able to verify the test results independently.

Although the Ministry of Justice does not have specific rules on the use of polygraph tests during a trial, this practice has been ruled out of order in many cases.

There has been speculation in recent months that Mueller has focused more on Stone as a potential criminal target.

In recent weeks, the special council has sought testimony from a growing number of people linked to the former informal adviser to the Trump campaign.

The long-time Republican strategist told The Hill earlier Tuesday that he had not yet heard from the special council office.

Stone has long been the subject of intense scrutiny by the public because of its links with WikiLeaks and Guccifer 2.0, the hacking character that the Mueller team now alleges was a front for Russian intelligence agents.

The special council has obtained guilty pleas from several former Trump associates, including the former campaign president.
