Harvey Weinstein has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor in an amended class action filed in New York on Wednesday.
The fallen film mogul vehemently denied this accusation, carried by an unnamed woman who claimed to have been attacked several times from 2002 to 2011, starting at the age of 16 and aspiring to become a model in New York.
The charges are largely in line with dozens of other charges against Weinstein, including intimidation, unwanted stroking, and pressure to provide sexual services in exchange for business opportunities in Hollywood.
After the initial meeting, the woman named Jane Doe in the complaint continued to deal with Weinstein, including trying to play the "Top Model of America". She alleges that she has not received any work from Weinstein or her company as she has advances.
The young woman, a Polish model, said Weinstein had organized a business lunch for both of them. It was a private visit to his SoHo apartment, where he encouraged her to remove her clothes and massage her genitals.
"This statement is absurd. Like so many other women in this affair who have already been revealed to be lying, this almost completely unfounded allegation, almost 20 years old, will also be patently false, "said Ben Brafman, Weinstein's defense attorney.
The complaint serves as an update of a class action brought against Weinstein – the accuser, his brother Bob and the members of the Board of Directors of the Weinstein Racket Society. He was dismissed in mid-September, a judge lamenting the lack of detail on how Weinstein and his cohorts could have concealed his alleged predation, according to the trial.
As things stand, Weinstein has been brought to court in New York on charges of sex crimes. Investigations of wrongdoing are ongoing in Los Angeles and London.
