After years of discussions on the sequel to the Oscars hit, Ridley Scott seems ready to return to the Coliseum, while the director began developing a new image "Gladiator" with Paramount on board.

Peter Craig, secretary of "The Town", will write the script.

The original photo featured Russell Crowe as Maximus, a general of the Roman army, betrayed by the emperor and left for dead while his family was brutally murdered. He is eventually forced to become a gladiator after being captured by slave traders, who bring him back to Rome to fight as a gladiator, while preparing his revenge against the emperor who l? betrayed.

The film will then win the award for best film and Crowe will win the Oscar for Best Actor while generating $ 460 million in global box office.

We do not know how the story will continue, since Maximus is killed at the end of the film.

DreamWorks has been involved in the production of the first film but is no longer involved, while Universal, which has co-produced, has the opportunity to become a co-financier.

Scott recently directed "All the Money in the World" with Michelle Williams and Mark Wahlberg. Scott is replaced by WME and Craig by CAA.

Deadline Hollywood has announced the news.
