Several waves of moderate to heavy rains will have an impact on Long Island late Thursday night to Saturday, the National Weather Service announced.
Up to 2 inches of rain in all is possible.
"Friday night, we will have intermittent showers but they will be more and more numerous on Friday night when the second wave will pass," writes Joe Cioffi, meteorologist for WPIX-TV and FiOS1 News, on his website. "It allowed us to see strong thunderstorms in the night from Saturday to Saturday morning."
Friday morning's ride will probably be wet, with rain falling almost from 5 to 10 am, announces the NWS.
