A candy or a caterer who has too many candies in his Halloween mail can turn his sweets into a sweet sum of money.
Dr. Susan Dennis, a dentist from Portage, is associated with Operation Gratitude for the eighth year to send candies to troops serving overseas, to their children at home and to injured soldiers as part of military medical care.
"We want Michigan kids to have healthy teeth and beautiful smiles," Dennis said in a statement. "Our team encourages kids to treat our soldiers with some of their Halloween candy."
Dennis will pay $ 1 for each pound of new unpackaged candy left at his office at 8150 Moorsbridge Road, Suite A, Portage. Candy donors can also register to win an iPod Touch.
The redemption of candies was offered from 7h to 19h. November 1st and from 8 am to 2 pm November 2nd.
The sweets are sent to the troops during the holidays with a letter thanking them for their dedication.
The Portage dentist's office buyout has sent over 1,800 pounds of candy over the last seven years to Operation Gratitude.
Dennis said, "It's a party in the reception hall all day with families coming to celebrate. Not only Halloween, but also the fact that we will do better with all these candies. "
