A British couple reportedly forced a Pole to work in exchange for food and kept him captive against his will in his garden shed for more than four years, authorities said.
Pritpal Binning, 56, and his wife, Palvinder, 54, were arrested Tuesday by gang masters and labor abuse authorities (GLAA) following a raid at their home. in Chilworth, near Southampton. They are accused of modern slavery.
Officials said that a "fragile Polish" of about 40 years had told officials that he had been forced to sleep in a plastic chair inside. from the garden shed and that he had been given food to eat out of date.
"He also stated that he had no flush toilets and that his kitchen was a refrigerator and a barbecue," said a spokesman for GLAA in a statement.

The spokesman said the victim had been accepted into a government program of assistance to victims of modern slavery and human trafficking.

The suspects have been released pending further investigation.
This is the second recent case of potential victim of slavery and human trafficking living in a hangar in Britain.
Last month, a 79-year-old Briton was arrested for allegedly forcing a person to live in a six-foot shed in Cumbria over the past 40 years.
