Police in several communities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire opened an investigation after discovering sewing needles and metal items in Halloween candies given to spellcasters this week.
A man told police on Friday that he had been manhandled in Salem, New Hampshire near Kelly Road. The man said that he did not know what residence the candies came from.
Salem police urged parents to check on their children's candy.
The incident reflects several incidents reported in the region, police said.
Marshfield police warned residents Thursday that sewing needles had been found in three Twizzler packages meant for cheaters.
The candy was received Wednesday night in the Brant Rock area, police said.
A metal object was found in a candy on Halloween in Sturbridge, officials said.
The object was found in a piece of candy Now and later, said the police. The object was not a needle or a sharp object.
The child had a hand in the Heritage Green complex on Heritage Green Drive in Fiskdale, police said.
Police said it was unknown if the object had been deliberately put in the candy or it was a manufacturing fault.
In Oak Bluffs, the police warn against a nail coming out of the bar of a mini-Hershey.
