SANTA CLARA – Mike McGlinchey remembers the draw that earned him a 49er and he could not be happier.
The offensive tackle was a coin that could live on the other side of the bay, dressed in silver and black. He reflected on the difference in his life if 49ers general manager John Lynch lost that first draw to the Raiders.
"I have it," McGlinchey said. "I have, and I'm really, really lucky, and I think I'm lucky to be here." It's not that the Raiders have a problem, but I was lucky in a great situation here.I like my head coach.I like my offensive line coach.I like my assistant offensive line coach.I love my teammates.
"I did not think about it today, but I started to think about it when I bought a house in the area, which side of the bay I could have lived on and so on."
The Raiders lost their second draw of the year against the 49ers on Thursday night. This defeat forced them to qualify for the opening match 34-3 which gave the 49ers their second win of the season.
The most powerful draw yet took place at the end of February NFL Scout Tie, where the choice of the first round of the Raiders and 49ers was decided. This draw made McGlinchey's writing a reality for the 49ers, who chose him with the ninth overall pick two months later.
McGlinchey has turned out to be a great choice for the 49ers. It is the highest ranked straight tackle of Pro Football Focus in the NFL.
According to rumors, if the Raiders had won the draw, they would have drafted McGlinchey. Instead, they traded their 10th pick with the Cardinals and pushed Kolton Miller away with the 15th pick.
Miller left Thursday's game after suffering a knee injury during the first game of the Raiders and had trouble playing 25 shots on goal. The Raiders moved the last offensive line while trying to protect quarterback Derek Carr. They allowed eight bags.

"It just could not be better, and I was lucky to go see the Niners," McGlinchey said. "We obviously want a few more wins, but we're building something special here and everyone can feel it.
"That's why we do not stop. We do not stop working and we do not stop playing hard. It's exciting. It's great to be here and hope that we are preparing for something big in the future. "
McGlinchey is very happy with the way things went and sees a solid future for the 49ers of the Bay.
"It's obviously not a guarantee that they would have chosen me," McGlinchey said. "But these are the rumors, but thanks my God, I love my situation here, I'm happy here and I can not wait to be Nine before long."
