The decision to stay with the Dodgers combines the best of both worlds for Kershaw. Kershaw's familiarity with the club probably played a role as well. For just over a decade, he has been the face of the franchise. Some assumed that it was out of the question that he left the team. Kershaw signed his huge $ 215 million extension, with a term of seven years, a year before he was eligible for free competition.
