HAVANA (AP) – Cuba on Friday condemned the Trump government's latest bitter talks on the island and its allies, but said the door was still open for talks with Washington.
The highest Cuban diplomat in charge of American affairs has adopted a particularly conciliatory tone in parallel with his condemnation of Thursday's speech by National Security Advisor John Bolton, exposing an uncompromising policy towards the countries that the White House qualifies. of "troika of tyranny".
Bolton pledged new sanctions against Venezuela and Cuba, as well as additional sanctions against Nicaragua, saying the United States "will no longer appease dictators and despots near our shores in this hemisphere."
Carlos Fernandez de Cossio told reporters in Havana: "Cuba vigorously rejects the language used by Mr. Bolton, the vulgarity used in his statement. De Cossio said, however, that Cuba's openness to respectful talks with the United States was unchanged.
"Cuba is open to a frank, professional, open and respectful dialogue with the United States," he said. "Cuba is open to any subject, if it is based on respect."
