What we learned, what we won and what the future holds for the superstars of RAW and SmackDown Live after Friday's WWE Crown Jewel session payment.
Despite many controversies around the event, the WWE Crown Jewel has unfolded as scheduled on Friday in Saudi Arabia. This is the second major event under a 10-year agreement with the Saudi General Sports Authority. WWE certainly took a lot of heat to advance this show after the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi last month.
And speaking of controversy, Crown Jewel began with the first appearance of WWE Hall of Famer, Hulk Hogan, in over three years. Hogan was named the official host of the event just days ago and received a warm welcome upon entering King Saud University Stadium.
He did not speak very long, but it was long enough to talk about the power of Hulkamania, which of course was followed by an ear-cut of the crowd and a few poses.
Crown Jewel always seems to be the wrong time to bring back the Hulkster, especially if that's all he was going to do, but I guess if people were anyway unhappy with the protest, Vince just decided to run away. I'm not aware of any other Hogan appearance, but now that he's officially back to WWE, I'm sure we'll see him appear from time to time.
We had a fun little game at the launching show with Shinsuke Nakamura retaining his US title title against Rusev before moving to the main map, which included two world title games. Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar competed for the WWE Universal Championship and AJ Styles and Samoa Joe renewed their rivalry with the WWE Championship. The titles of the SmackDown team championship were also in play as the bar took The New Day and the "Best in the World" title was also awarded in an eight-man tournament. And let's not forget the return to the ring of Shawn Michaels, who teamed up with Triple H to make war on The Undertaker and Kane.
Let's see now how the WWE Crown Jewel has unfolded with some highlights and some takeaways and how things will evolve from now on.
