WASHINGTON – HBO criticized President Donald Trump for tweeting an image broadcast on a "Game of Thrones" slogan.
"We were not aware of this message and would prefer that our brand not be diverted for political purposes," HBO said in a statement.

Earlier Friday, Trump had tweeted a poster of himself with the phrase "Sanctions Are Coming" – a "Winter is Coming" play from "Game of Thrones" – referring to the White House's decision to reimpose the sanctions to Iran after the withdrawal of the nuclear agreement. The letters on "Winter Is Coming" are also borrowed from the fantasy series.
Some cast members of the show have tweeted their disdain. Maisie Williams simply wrote, "Not today." Sophie Turner replied, "Ew."
Activists such as Amy Schumer used the phrase "November Is Coming" following Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation in the Supreme Court, and a jacket with that sentence was even sold. But they do not use this phrase in the same way as Trump.
Trump's administration used film marketing tactics in his posts, and even used a blockbuster-style trailer at his meeting with Kim Jong Un. Trump said he'd played for the North Leader -Korean.
