PARIS – Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer 7-6 (6), 5-7, 7-6 (3) in an epic semifinal of the Paris Masters lasting three hours. He finally sealed the victory when Federer scored a backhand after saving two match points.

Djokovic's fourth consecutive victory over Federer and his 25th victory in 47 games sent him to the final against Karen Khachanov of Russia, who has never participated in the selection, who has never competed in a Masters final.

Djokovic is on a run of 22 consecutive victories and will aim to get closer to Rafael Nadal on a record 33 Masters titles.

Earlier, Khachanov continued his strong recent form by defeating Dominic Thiem 6-4, 6-1.

Khachanov, who had not been sown, beat Thiem to lead 5-4 and served the first set.

They exchanged their breaks early in the second set, and Khachanov won the next five games, winning the first match point when Thiem, seeded sixth, traded a wide shot.

Khachanov won the Kremlin Cup in Moscow last month for his third career title.
