A music teacher from a California high school was arrested Friday after being caught fighting with a student in class.
Marston Riley, 40, was filmed punching a student at Maywood Academy High School while a woman wearing a yellow vest was trying to break the fight.
He was placed in custody on suspicion of child abuse and physical harm to the student after the incident was reported to authorities around 1:30 pm, KTLA reported. Friday.
The student was cared for and left a local hospital. He has not suffered serious injuries, according to NBC 4.
Class witnesses said that the fight began when the teacher informed the student that he had to leave the class because he was wearing the wrong uniform. The student reportedly refused to go there, reported KTLA 5.
The KTLA 5 video shows the student throwing a basket ball at Riley before hitting the boy in the face.
"Crisis counselors and additional school police patrols will be in school Monday to support our students and staff," said a spokesman for the unified school district of Los Angeles in a statement to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

One student said the situation was in order, according to KTLA 5.
"Everything was planned," said the unidentified student, reported KTLA 5. "There were students already taking out their phones to record the incident."
One mother thought that Riley was defending herself against the student while another person claimed that the teacher was aggressive, according to ABC 11.
"I think it's their fault at the time, just like the teacher and the student," said student Enrique Deharo, reported ABC 11. "I was afraid for the child and partly for the teacher too.
Riley is being held on bail of $ 50,000, according to KTLA 5.
Maywood Academy High School did not immediately respond to TheDCNF's request for comment.
