A substitute assistant at Pemberton Township High School was charged with having inappropriate contact with a student and using social media to engage in sexually explicit conversations and sending her Nude photos of her, announced the authorities.
Casey L. Bartholomew, 22, of the Browns Mills Section of Pemberton Township, has been charged with endangering a child's welfare, aggravated criminal sexual contacts and obscenity towards a minor , according to an announcement made jointly by the Burlington County District Attorney's Office and Pemberton Township Police.
She was arrested at the prosecutor's office on Friday night and sent to Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly.
The presumed contact between Bartholomew and the student took place earlier this week at Pemberton High School, authorities said.
Bartholomew was due to appear for the first time in the superior court on Saturday.
Pemberton superintendent Tony Trongone posted a message on the district website indicating that when school officials learned Friday of the alleged contact between Bartholomew and the student, the police immediately contacted the parents.
He added that Bartholomew "was removed from the district substitution group until further notice and the investigation was completed".
"Rest assured that the school district takes all allegations of inappropriate behavior between a student and an employee very seriously and remains committed to ensuring the safety of all students."
The authorities did not explain how they became aware of the alleged contact between Bartholomew and the student nor of his age.
