More than 200 British Airways passengers were trapped on a three-day flight from Orlando to London and stuck for two days in two different airports.
The 2036 flight to Gatwick Airport was due to leave Orlando on Thursday night, but mechanical problems immobilized the plane in Florida for 24 hours, angry passengers announced.
When the plane took off on Friday night, it did not get very far, spilling fuel in the air and lowering the landing gear at high altitude before heading to JFK airport. , said passengers.
"I was very scared," said Daisy May Dixon, 14.
Flying planes like Dixon were forced to sleep on Terminal 7 all night long, they said.
British Airways sent a rescue plane to pick up the angry passengers and bring them back to London on Saturday.
A spokesman for British Airways called the problems a "minor technical problem" and apologized to customers for the delay, saying it was trying to get people to London "as quickly as possible".
